What we are studying for the First Quarter:
What are we studying:
In Math:
4th grade:
4th graders are wrapping up their Study of Division arrays, factors and multiples and NUMBER THEORIES.
5th grade:
Wrapping up addition and subtraction of decimals and rounding decimals.
6th Grade:
Wrapping up Percentages, ratios and proprtions practice.
In Geometry:
Students are studying areas of regular polygons
In Science:
4th: Studying Weathering, Erosion and Deposition and Natural Disasters.
5th: Transfer of Energy, Heat Energy and Weather Maps
6th: Finished researching Solar and Lunar Eclipses, phases of the moon, tides, seasons and moving on to study of Layers of Earth and Plate Tectonics
In History: All grades are working on the Fundamental Needs of Native American tribes. Each group is researching this on one of the regions of North America. We will then move to the study of North Carolina.
In language:
Writing: is all across the curriculum.
Practical Life: mini lessons everyday and one big lesson every other week.
Ms. Charlotte works with one group every Tuesday on different concepts of Outdoor Ecology that complements/enhances Montessori science lessons.
Daily chores: performed daily :-)

- On regular M-F weeks we do Word study and Grammar Syntax activities. We are working on getting key ideas and details, plots, poetry, quoting from text
Practical Life: mini lessons everyday and one big lesson every other week.
- Cooking Days on Thursdays and throughout the week in their daily class chores.
