Dear Kind parents,
Hope you’re all having a great week so far!
All children are working hard and making progress every day. We are working on organizing our daily work, using planners daily to keep up with our daily/weekly assignments.
In Science: The children are learning all about matter and its properties, the periodic table and its elements as well as the light energy.
In Math: We are learning multiplication and division of fractions, advanced numeration and decimals as well as mastering our math facts.
In History: all grades are learning about the Timeline of humanities and ancient Civilizations
In language: comprehension skills, parts of speech as well as sentence syntax.
Writing: is all across the curriculum.
Grace and Courtesy lessons: mini lessons everyday and one big lesson every other week.
Practical life: Cooking Days on Thursdays and throughout the week in their daily class chores.
Important updates regarding our class community:
* Peace Day/ Gardening Day this Friday 10/13. Please come and join us sing “Light a candle for peace” and add to our green indoor plants. I requested each child to pick out an indoor plant to put around the classroom. We have 6 petunias and one big plant. I’d like 2 more big indoor plants!
Our herb outdoor garden is flourishing- will be used in cooking days. We are in need of some new mint seedlings and lavender seedlings.
*Picture Day is on 10/17
Every student will have his/her picture taken, but it is prepay for those who actually want to get a package.
*On Thursday, October 19th, PRM will be learning about and celebrating Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. Our children will have the opportunity to have a henna design made on their hand. If you are interested in that (and I must say that it's pretty popular with the kiddos), please send $3 in with your child on that day in order to pay the henna artist directly.
Also we will have Akhila’s family cooking for us an Indian meal that day! And many thanks for providing the class drinking water since last year! The children are very grateful for the cold water everyday!
*P/T Conferences: are in full swing! Please sign up for a time slot. My goal to meet with every family. It is a very important piece of your child education!
*MTOS Payments:
A friendly reminder that the last day to make payments for MTOS is next Friday, October 20. Right now, I'm showing 15 students needing to make the final payment. Also if your child has any food allergies or modification that I don’t know of let me know ASAP.
*Khan Academy:
Please make sure that your child joins his/her grade level class. I would like to start them this week on Khan Academy Assignments. They have to have a parent's email since they're younger than 13 years.
One last extremely important item-----if you have not already contributed to our Invest in Your Child fund, please do that now. It does not matter how much you contribute, IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE!
Warmly,
--Amira
